Clarksville Operating Radio Enthusiasts/Customs House Museum Amateur Radio Club activate W4CHM
On Saturday March 27, members of the Clarksville Operating Radio Enthusiasts operated as W4CHM from the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, TN.
Club President Hank Koebler/N3ORX had this to say about the event
“It was a good event, everyone came together to get it done and we had a lot of fun. One of the things that is paramount in all of our activities is the “fun factor.” HAM radio is a hobby, and a hobby, in my mind, should be enjoyable and not create any extra stress or tension. I think our group accomplishes that every time. Today, folks brought in complete stations, we had some problems with one and others pitched in to help. Some of the group was involved with the VE testing, which was very successful. 10 test takers and 8 test passers!. Our own Dave/KJ4RMO passed the General test, and with his wife, Shelly, son, Matt, passing the Tech test, they are a real HAM family. It was also a learning experience for many of us, as we shared information, tips and techniques, and as usual , marveled at Ed/KJ4IEU’s clever inventiveness. The Custom House Museum folks were very pleased with what we did and how we conducted ourselves. I think we presented HAM radio to the folks that visited in a very positive light, and had fun doing it. It was a great HAM radio day!”
As always we want to thank the Customs House Museum for their hospitality in hosting us for this event and look forward to activating W4CHM again in the near future. Look for pictures and video of the event here soon.
