The C.O.R.E. group is, as the name suggests, a group of radio enthusiasts organized to support public service events and provide emergency and disaster communications in Clarksville and surrounding areas of Tennessee and Kentucky. We are now an ARRL affiliated Amateur Radio club, but we still don't buy into the exclusive or elitist approach. Depending upon the event or mission, all radio enthusiasts have something to offer. We understand that when things go bad, we all help the best way we can.

We now have regularly scheduled meetings, however, our membership dues are the most reasonable anywhere and we resist the trappings of a more traditional club. Instead, we are a group of committed individuals who do radio because we enjoy it and feel it is important. We have all reached a basic level of training and maintain that level of proficiency to ensure when the call comes out we are up to the task. Many members have completed at least the ARRL's Introduction to Emergency Communications and the Red Cross Introduction to Disaster Services course as well as many others.  All the above training is free except for the ARRL courses. We also take and recommend the FEMA courses, which are free on the Web or by mail. The commitment is to training and preparedness, and requires more in time than money. We don't want to place financial burden as an obstacle to potential members- we have no real minimum equipment requirements. After all, building a killer station in your vehicle isn't all that hard if you've got the money. So, if you are interested in joining a group that does all in its power to KNOW that it is ready when disaster strikes, contact one of our current members for more information.

We do the public service events we like- a member sees an event he/she would like to support and puts together a team to handle the mission. We try to keep the fun in radio- that's important to us- while providing communications support for disasters or events. If it's a chore people will find other things to do with their time.

So, if radio is or might be your thing, or you are just interested in what it's all about- read on. We welcome new group members- with this group it's never the same crew twice.
